Recognising the Need for Family Wellbeing

Anna-Marie's Story

Anna-Marie's Story.

Meet Anna-Marie a wife, mum, and full-time employee who lives life at full speed.

“I’m like a Duracell bunny; I never stop,” she joked during an interview with one of our Wellbeing Coaches. But despite her seemingly endless energy, Anna-Marie knew something needed to change when she heard about the Habits for Health Programme.

It was 12 weeks that will help me for the rest of my life. It was invaluable and I will now have this learning forever. It’s like having a superpower.

Recognising the Need for Family Wellbeing.

Life often felt like a blur of responsibilities for Anna-Marie. One of her biggest challenges was realising that while her family appeared happy and connected on the surface, something didn’t quite feel right.

At first glance, everything seemed fine. “Apart from feeling exhausted and my clothes not fitting, there were no other indications that something was wrong,” she recalled. But deep down, Anna-Marie knew there was more she needed to address.

Her main motivation? To rebuild the balance between her work and home life - a challenge many of us can relate to.

The programme has turned my life upside down in a great way and restored my work-life balance. As a family, we would do the 1% progress experiments together. This really helped us connect as a family.

The Power of Small Steps.

For Anna-Marie, the 12-week programme turned out to be life-changing.

“It’s like having a superpower! It was 12 weeks that will help me for the rest of my life. It was invaluable, and I will now have this learning forever.”

What made Anna-Marie’s experience so unique was how she involved her family throughout the process. After each session, her husband (and sometimes even her daughter) would rewatch the on-demand training videos with her.

“We would do the 1% progress experiments together as a family,” she said. These small, manageable experiments introduced meaningful changes into their daily routines, which brought big results over time. Some of the habits they embraced included:

  • Phone-free mealtimes: They put away electronic devices during dinner to focus on meaningful conversation.
  • No screens after 8pm: This simple rule encouraged more quality downtime.
  • Evening walks: The family started going on 10-minute walks after meals to move and talk together.
  • Healthy cooking competition: They turned mealtime into a fun game, challenging each other to create vegetable-packed recipes.

These small but impactful changes enabled Anna-Marie and her family to reconnect, bringing joy and stronger bonds into their everyday lives.

"We now go to badminton together once a week; my husband and I retook up dancing; I joined a choir; I also now belong to our local community Orchard. The Habits for Health Programme has enriched our lives together."

The Heart of Family Wellbeing.

Anna-Marie’s journey proves that improving family wellbeing doesn’t require huge, overwhelming changes. Instead, it starts with small, intentional habits taken one step at a time, and a willingness to bring loved ones along for the ride.

Her story serves as a powerful reminder that, by prioritising connection, balance, and shared experiences, families can improve their collective wellbeing while creating meaningful memories.
